The Long Lab is dedicated to bringing science to the community. We participate in a variety of events each year and are always interested in partnering with schools and organizations to provide hands-on research experiences.
Year Round Programs
Teachers, if you are interested in scheduling a field trip for your middle school or high school students, please contact us. We are located in Raleigh, North Carolina on the campus of North Carolina State University.
NCSU’s Creating Awareness of Agriculture and Life Sciences Disciplines, Degree Programs, and Discoveries (CAALS-3D) Summer Research Experience is a week-long summer program offering a unique hands-on opportunity for high school students interested in the field of plant biology. This program promotes diversity by encouraging the involvement of underrepresented populations in CALS research. Dr. Long and the Long Lab have been working with the program since 2013.
NCSU’s Integrative Molecular Plant Systems Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) is a 10-week long intensive summer program allowing undergraduate students to complete and present a summer research project. The Long Lab is happy to have hosted three REU students so far.
